Oh, but…. Friendly cats … are a dream. Aren’t they?
It always amazes me to see super friendly kitty cats.
I love when they are so affectionate toward their owners..

Truth is, all cats are friendly (or at least can be if we show them how).
Here are a few tips.
Start when they’re kittens, by picking them up and cuddling them softly as you move about.
My daughter did this with Lia when she was brought home and since then has enjoyed her sweet hugs and babying.
If you get an older cat that isn’t friendly, try petting him/her on occasion, and especially before, during and after feeding time. The key is knowing when to stop.
You can use the petting with rewards such as treats and/or food and this will help to persuade them to accept the petting/hugging.
Just like the Pavlov’s psychological conditioning experiment, your kitty will accept the behavior if done with positive reinforcement. See more on Ivan Pavlov here.
So, remember… Whatever behavior you want in your precious pet, encourage it with treats and other pleasurable things your cat will enjoy and it will happen as good “behavior that leads to reward” will encourage kitty.
